I’m pushing 62 and just looking at my skin you would never think that I’m in my 60s. Yes, I’m bragging right now. Part genes and part religious use of my holy grail skin care products, my skin reflects my devotion to great skin care.
My advice to my friends, clients and anyone else who will listen to me jabber about skin care habits will know that I swear my vitamin C serum, retinol serum and sunscreen. That’s the trifecta of fabulous skin IMHO.
Vitamin C serums are acidic, which means they exfoliate dead cells from the skins surface leaving it brighter and smoother. This in turn speeds up new cell regeneration — acceleration of the production and elastin. This is good thing folks. Collagen is the fibrous in the skin that plumps skin and prevents sagging. Elastin too is protein fibers that give your skin that “snap back.”
Today I’m talking about my love affair with Dr. Dennis Gross C + Collagen Brighten + Firm Vitamin C Serum.
About Dr. Dennis Gross C + Collagen Brighten + Firm Vitamin C Serum $78:
What it is:
A fast-absorbing gel-serum packed with 3-O C vitamin C—the most stable form of vitamin C—collagen amino acids, and a proprietary energy complex to create a smooth and luminous complexion.Solutions for:
– Dullness and uneven texture
– Fine lines and wrinkles
– Loss of firmness and elasticityIf you want to know more…
Revive tired-looking skin for a radiant, healthy-looking complexion. This potent serum combines propriertary vitamin C technology (3-O C) and an energy complex to neutralize damage from free radicals, improve skin firmness, and banish dark spots. 3-O-Ethyl ascorbic acid, the most effective stabilized form of vitamin C, works to diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation and fine lines to recharge and brighten skin long term.
Why I love it:
I have been using Dr. Dennis Gross C + Collagen Brighten + Firm Vitamin C Serum for about 6 months now and honestly, my skin looks all the better for it.
First off, this stabilized Vitamin C serum comes in a dark brownish orange bottle with an air tight pump. Why is this important? Exposure to light and air can cause your serum to diminish in efficacy due to oxidation.
I use my Vitamin C serum in my morning skin care routine. After cleansing (and occasionally using an essence) I apply my serum over the entirety of my face, neck and upper decollete. l choose to use Vitamin C serum in the morning as it’s a powerful antioxidant, fighting free radical damage and daytime is when I’m hit the most with free radicals.
My results have been pretty fabulous and obvious. I do have great skin, but the overall brightness, firmness and elasticity have improved since using Dr. Dennis Gross C + Collagen Brighten + Firm Vitamin C Serum. I also have melasma, and that is one of the hardest types of hyperpigmentation to move, but a I have seen significant reduction with this Vitamin C serum. (I’m close to 62 in the picture below.)
NOTE: I also think that for women of color a Vitamin C serum is vital as melanin enriched skin ages differently from our fairer counterparts. While fair skin wrinkles, brown skin sees aging in the form of hyperpigmentation, sagging and a loss of elasticity.
